Face Lift – Rhytidectomy
Face lift is one of the surgeries intended for elimination of the facial aging symptoms. It is performed especially for eliminating the sagging in the cheeks and chin sides as well as in the neck.
Face lift surgery is usually done under general anesthesia, and takes 2.5-4 hours on the average.
In full face and neck lift surgeries, the cheek skin is lifted to a certain extent by means of incisions made in front of and behind the ears, and the tissues dislocated downwards are pulled to the up and sides directions, which are then fixed to their new locations with sutures. Excess tissue and skin are removed. In face lift surgery, drains are placed for draining the accumulated blood under the skin. Drains are removed the next day.
The patient stays in the hospital overnight.
The sutures are removed 5-7 days after the surgery.
Edema and bruises lasts for a period of 1-3 weeks.
Incision lines can easily be concealed with the hair in face lift surgery.
Face lift surgery can be done in combination with other surgical operations such as facial fat injection, blepharoplasty, forehead lift, and brow lift.
In face lift surgeries, blood thinner drugs such as Aspirin and vitamin E should be stopped at least 10 days prior to surgery.
Smokers are likely to be a greater risk of suffering a complication.
The action time of face lift surgery depends on the surgical technique used, the patient’s lifestyle, and his/her skin structure.
Face lift surgery can be repeated after years.
